OX CART MAN
Inspired by one of my favorite children’s books Ox-Cart Man by Donald Hall and beautifully illustrated by Barbara Cooney. The fabrics are a fun juxtaposition of organically grown naturally dyed fabrics and vintage prints to fit the Ox-Cart Man vibe. The red dots are wool felt. I hand quilted this piece with traditional hand quilting thread in a freehand organic improvisational pattern to represent the Ox-Cart Man’s journey on foot meandering over hills and valleys from his farm to the market and back home again. The batting is organically grown cotton. The quilt back is indigo dyed fabrics and vintage calico.
