JUNCTURE
I have a thing for stripes and often sew with them when making garments. This linen stripe fabric has been in my scrap basket for too long so I decided it must become a quilt! The making of this quilt was very much a juncture point in which I decided wholeheartedly to bring vintage fabrics, stripes and calicos back into my work.
This fun piece is made with organic cotton and linen naturally dyed with madder root (pink), and osage (yellow). The stripes are a linen cotton blend from my garment scrap basket. The batting is organic cotton. The back is indigo dyed fabrics pieced into large stripes with undyed organic cotton, a strip of stripes (say that fast ten times) and a sweet little piece of vintage calico. This quilt was machine pieced and hand-quilted with Japanese sashiko thread. The naturally dyed binding was also hand sewn.
Measures: 33” x 44” (baby size or wall hanging)
