BIRDSONG
Made from some smaller pieces I had lingering around the studio and improv pieced in a playful way to bring them together. Grateful Dead and Miles Davis in the background to help me through this one. Made from organically grown cotton and linen fabrics naturally dyed by me here on the farm with indigo, madder root and a few other plants, also some stripes and vintage calicos here and there. Hand quilted with Japanese sashiko thread in a baptist fans pattern. The back is cloudy indigo dyed remnants pieced together along with a repurposed stipe remnant and a piece I cut from a floral vintage dress. The batting is organically grown cotton.
