Beautiful Neighborhood

$7,500.00

A modern rendition of the classic traditional Schoolhouse block. This piece features a playful, mostly pastel palette derived almost entirely from homegrown and locally foraged colors. There are some fun vintage and modern prints from my scrap basket too. The homegrown dyes include madder root, apple wood, Rocky Mountain Juniper, Gamble Oak, and weld. The border was dyed with locally foraged Black Walnut husks. The blues and teals are from indigo and the purples from logwood. The patchwork gingham featured on the back of the piece was dyed with walnut husks, weld and madder root.

Machine pieced and hand quilted in an intricate dense freehand pattern using Japanese sashiko thread. The dyed fabrics are organic cotton and hemp blends, the batting is organic cotton, and the thread is organic cotton. The hand quilting thread is cotton.

Measures approximately: 61” x 76” (throw size or wall art)
