THE ANEMONE QUILT
The Anemone Quilt is based on a traditional quilt block called Ocean Waves. I chose a non-traditional composition by grouping colors together to form the nine circles that dance around this piece. There are over a thousand small pieces that make up this special quilt. I named it after the ornately colorful sea anemones that spend their lives swaying on coral reefs beneath the ocean waves.
Naturally plant and mineral dyed vibrant colors on organic cotton, linen, and raw silk fabrics. The back is also naturally dyed fabrics and includes a piece of vintage cotton stripe. Natural unbleached cotton batting. Entirely hand quilted with cotton Japanese sashiko thread, and bound with hand stitches.
