This fun project offers a great opportunity to try your hand at patchwork piecing using a sewing machine, and handwork in the forms of hand appliqué and hand quilting. The pattern testers rated it for advanced beginners with some previous basic sewing experience. I like to think it’s suitable for an ambitious beginner too : ) The instructions are thorough and explain all of the processes with many helpful process shots. Since all of the patchwork is made from small and small-ish pieces, this is a great project to use up your scraps. The bag has a lining and a pocket inside that will fit most phones.
