AN ODE TO SUMMER QUILT

$5,600.00

The red and pink colors of madder root on a lush background of olive green give me all the verdant summer feelings. All of these colors were achieved with natural dyes. This is a variation of a traditional quilt block called Jack in the Pulpit. I did all of the piecing with my sewing machine and the quilting was done entirely by hand in a repetitive stitching pattern that feel like crop circles. An unintentional yet welcome surprise!

This quilt is featured in my book Farm & Folk Quilt Alchemy.

Materials; organically grown cotton and hemp fabrics, organically grown cotton batting, organic cotton sewing machine thread, mixed organic cotton, linen and hemp fabrics on the backing, and Japanese sashiko thread for the hand quilting.

Measures: 96” x 86” (will fit a queen bed)
